The new Ladder 14 Fire Station was designed as a replacement for an outdated facility built in the early 1900’s. The living areas include kitchen, dining room, lounge, exercise room, dormitories and locker rooms. The main corridor features a skylight which washes the yellow wall with natural light and separates the sleeping quarters from the active program spaces. The red linoleum halls bisect the main corridor, leading directly from the dormitories to the truck bays. The one story design allows for ease of circulation and rapid response time.
Roche & Company was the interior design consultant for the project architect, and provided finish material selections and specifications.
